Secretary Walsh in Wisconsin touting Biden jobs, infrastructure plan

A member of the Biden Administration is promoting the President’s infrastructure plans in Wisconsin.  Congressman Ron Kind says the Biden infrastructure plan will help repair roads and bridges and expand broadband service. “We’ve had a deteriorating infrastructure for some time. It’s time to fix it. Included in that by the way is what I’ve been pretty focused on and that’s broadband expansion, especially in rural Wisconsin. We desperately need it.”

Kind says the federal plan includes dollars for building out connections in the last mile where it is not profitable for private companies to finish the connection, especially in rural America. “Like rural electrification in the 1930’s. We knew that there had to be a substantial federal role in making sure everyone had access to electricity. Look what that did as a boom for rural America. The same is true for broadband right now.”

Kind says he and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh will be in Eau Claire and La Crosse Tuesday discussing broadband expansion and job creation.  Walsh is also promoting the President’s proposal Wednesday in the Milwaukee area.

Republicans in Congress have offered an alternative to the Biden plan, but the two sides are far from agreement.
