Sen. Marshall: No rush on farm bill

U.S. Senator Roger Marshall says he’s in no rush to pass a farm bill.

“And people that are pushing us to get one done just for the sake of getting it done, I think are not thinking on the long term basis,” he says. “We need to put farm back in the farm bill, protect crop insurance, help with the reference prices and then actually loosen up some of the rules surrounding the conservation dollars.”

The Kansas Republican tells Brownfield what Democratic members have proposed puts the bill in a tough spot.

Ranking Member John Boozman of Arkansas released the Republican farm bill framework earlier this summer.

The current farm bill extension expires at the end of September.
