Senate Ag Chair pushing for more farmer aid

The chairman of the U.S. Senate Ag Committee says Congress continues to discuss additional financial assistance for agriculture.
In a committee hearing Wednesday, John Boozman told attendees…
“In the immediate future, Congress must provide additional assistance to ensure producers have the working capital available to see them through the 2026 crop season,” he says.
The Arkansas Republican says economic conditions are not easing for America’s farmers.
“I would say it’s a generational event.” He says, “While input prices for our producers have been stubbornly high for the past several years, this situation has recently become more acute as farm bankruptcies increase, fuel prices remain high, and interest rates have yet to come down.”
Boozman says the $12 billion Farmer Bridge Assistance Program was a good first step, but he’s advocating for an expansion of the program in any future supplemental funding legislation.
