Senate Ag Committee member focused on getting farm bill done

There’s a growing sense of urgency for lawmakers working on the next farm bill.

Senate Agriculture Committee member Tina Smith tells Brownfield she continues to gather feedback from ag stakeholders.

“We are very focused on getting the work done and coming up with a bipartisan agreement.”

The Minnesota Democrat recently met with several commodity groups from her state and plans to hold a subcommittee meeting on the farm bill later this month.

“Young farmers that are directly affected by the trade, risk management, and commodity programs, and that will all be part of the information that goes into writing the farm bill. Figuring out what needs to stay the same, what needs to be updated, and what more we can do.”

The current farm bill expires September 30th
