Short-term weather outlook
A climatologist says many Midwestern farmers can expect some precipitation heading into the weekend.
Eric Hunt with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln says, “We are looking reasonably good chances of picking up an inch or more of rain across a lot of the Western Corn Belt and some of the Northern Plains.”
He says some areas of the region are in need of rain. “A lot of the Dakotas, Nebraska, and western Iowa have dried out quite a bit in the last 4 or 5 weeks. Any precipitation we get over here is just going to help make those crops hit a home run this year.”
Hunt says the extended forecast shows additional moisture possibilities across parts of the Plains next week.
