Smith: China making progress on U.S. Soybean purchases

The chairman of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee says China is making progress on its purchase commitments of U.S. soybeans.
Jason Smith, a U.S. Congressman from Missouri, tells Brownfield…
“They’ve already purchased over 13 million metric tons, so they’re halfway there. They got more work to do, but last year they purchased a big fat zero and so, we’re definitely moving in the right direction.”
Smith credits tariffs to creating the leverage to open foreign markets.
“If we allow our farmers to complete compete on a level playing field, no one can beat us.”
Brownfield talked to Smith at a press conference this week at the Missouri State Fair.
