Solutions from the Land backs year-round E15, ethanol policies

A leader with 25×25 Solutions from the Land says federal renewable fuels policy is critical for reaching environmental goals.
Ray Gaesser, who also farms in southwestern Iowa, says unlocking the full potential of biofuels like corn ethanol can help the country reduce emissions.
“There’s so many benefits, not only for the economic value, but the emissions and water quality and air quality values are improved so much by using renewable energy.”
He tells Brownfield their group is calling on lawmakers to pass a year-round federal solution for E15 blends.
“Getting to E15 is a really important next step,” Gaesser said. “It’s so needed in agriculture, but it really does benefit the consumer too. They’ll have less expensive fuel for their cars and their engines. It really helps everyone, and it creates demand for the corn that we grow.”
Gaesser says Solutions from the Land has also called for further action by the U.S. EPA to allow higher blends of ethanol to further reduce emissions. They have additionally backed legislation like the Next Generation Fuels Act.
Gaesser recently spoke to Brownfield’s Brent Barnett at the 2025 NAFB Convention in Kansas City.
