South-central Nebraska harvest delivers near-record production

South-central Nebraska farmer Randy Uhrmacher says he was pleasantly surprised by his corn and soybean crops this year.

“We were at or above any records we’ve had overall.”

He tells Brownfield he wrapped up harvest about 10 days ago. “We did have some hybrids that were off quite a bit. They didn’t take the disease pressure as well as some of the other ones. If you could keep the disease out of the corn this year, and had a hybrid that had some disease resistance, it was pretty darn good.”

Uhrmacher says soybeans yields were exceptional and were not impacted by disease.
