Southeast Nebraska farmer closely monitoring stand issues

A southeast Nebraska farmer says he’s concerned about stand issues for his corn and soybean crops.
Logan Bredemeier tells Brownfield, “We’ve finally gotten some some heat now to get some stuff really starting to take off. Anhydrous burn has started to show up pretty bad in spots where plants overlap with the anhydrous marks.”
Ninety-five percent of corn has been planted with 76 percent emerged and 68 percent is rated good-to-excellent.
He says soybean conditions are average at best. “It depends on what residue conditions were on the field and what overall field conditions were when they got planted.”
Soybeans planting pace is at 89 percent with 61 percent emerged and 67 percent of the crop is rated good-to-excellent.
Only 23 percent of winter wheat is rated good-to-excellent.
Eighty percent of pasture and range conditions are rated very poor-to-fair.
