Southern Illinois land market holding steady
Owners of a southern Illinois realty firm say the region’s land market is holding steady.
Brad Chandler, with Property Peddler, Inc., which has four locations across the area, tells Brownfield, “I kind of thought 2023 might have been the peak, but from what our early fall auctions here are showing is that the market is holding from the 2023 prices,” he says.
Brenda Chandler, managing broker, says it’s been an active market.
“I’m amazed at how much has popped up in the last quarter of this year.” She says, “We have seen more auctions. Now we’re watching the amount of land going up on the market raise quite a bit, especially comparatively to the couple of years before.”
The Chandler’s say farmland productivity, location, and the number of active farmers in the area are just a few of the factors that play into land auction results.
