Southwest Iowa harvest update

A southwest Iowa farmer says harvest is picking up steam in his area.

Justin Ewalt raises corn, soybeans, hay, and cattle on one thousand acres near Tabor. “We’ve just kind of got the ball rolling here. Corn has dried down to a manageable level and so we did pick a little corn. Now we’re off into bean harvest here.”

He tells Brownfield he hasn’t dealt with any weather delays. “We’re probably to a point where folks might enjoy a day or two off from a rain. We’ll keep pressing on and it looks like we have a good stretch here to get quite a bit done here in the next week or 10 days.”

Ewalt says yields have been near or slightly above average so far.
