The Ohio Soybean Council is working to create new domestic demand opportunities for Ohio-grown soybeans.

Madi Corbi says BIORESTOR is helping extend the life of rural roads in northwest Ohio.

“Any traditional petroleum product, we can put soy in that,” she says. “Soybean oil is chemically similar to petroleum, so it does make it a very good alternative to expand and create greater profit opportunities for our farmers.”

She tells Brownfield the product uses soybean oil as an sealant to improve the longevity of asphalt.

“If we see roads that a grain truck is driving on year after year that are constantly having to be repaired and it’s delaying traffic, this can act as a barrier or protection that makes the roads last longer,” she says.

Corbi says the organization continues to partner with Ohio-based companies to create new market opportunities for the state’s farmers.
