Soybean buyers visit Indiana for USSEC Soybean Oil Masters Program
Buyers from around the world are in Indiana to better understand the U.S. soybean industry and how it operates.
Fradbelin Escarraman, Dominican Republic and Jamaica market lead with the U.S. Soybean Export Council, says the visitors are taking part in the Soybean Oil Master’s Program.
“They get to see firsthand how soy is grown, that technology and how it’s being incorporated, and how seeds are produced,” he says. “They get to understand a little bit better the whole value chain of soy.”
He tells Brownfield the goal of the program is to create lasting relationships and build demand for U.S. soy.
“We differentiate US soybean oil from other origins, create preference for US soy, and dealing with market access issues,” he says. “But, we also want these companies to be more efficient, be more aware of what’s happening in the soil industry, and that will translate in buying more US soy.”
Participants in the program represent four different regions of the world and visit different agricultural industries across Indiana. Escarraman says USSEC values its partnership with the Indiana Soybean Alliance to showcase the diversity of the soybean industry.
