Soybean versatility featured in new documentary

A recently released documentary is highlighting the history and versatility of soybeans.

Sara Stelter, from Waushara County Wisconsin is among the farmers featured in Groundbreaking: A Story of Innovation.

“Every part of our lives, every single day, we see soybeans in use, from fire prevention to food to medicine to the whole mission to Mars. Soybeans are going to be involved in that,” she says.

The Wisconsin Soybean Board member tells Brownfield the film was funded by the Soybean Checkoff and features 15 experts in nine states looking into the crop’s past and possibilities for the future.

“Animals are the biggest consumer of soybeans, (including) pigs and chickens. They’re looking now into using soybeans more in dairy feed as well,” she says.

The documentary is streaming now on A&E.
