Specialty grower survey gives insights into biological use

A recent report finds specialty growers rely on biologicals to improve crop quality.

Stratovation Group Founder and CEO Cameron Camfield tells Brownfield the nationwide survey measured perceptions of biologicals in terms of their use and value.

“That top metric was quality every time, as opposed to just yield or ROI,” he says.

He says 65 percent of participants currently use biologicals as biopesticides, biostimulants, or biofertilizers.

“Biopesticides as the subcategory was the largest of the three, with almost 70 percent awareness, which counter to row crop, biopesticide use and awareness was the lowest of the three subcategories.”

Camfield says growers are most likely to rely on Cooperative Extension and other farmers for agronomic insights and prefer the inputs in a liquid form.
