St. Louis area returns to close-to-normal water levels
Rivers around the St. Louis area have returned to more normal levels.
Josh Hastings, ADM’s Commercial Manager of the St. Louis and Cairo harbors, says the recent high-water levels north of St. Louis slowed barge traffic.
“What that did was it impacted our ability to go above lock 17 on the upper Mississippi. We have a lot of fertilizer and grains need up that way.”
Navigation restrictions on the Mississippi River were lifted earlier this week.
“Our customers don’t have to deal with any kind of high water charges or any abilities for us to get to and from places.”
Hastings says it takes 12 days or less to transporting grain from the bin to the Gulf of Mexico.

Is it true. Because of new buildings Ibeing built. That is causing the flooding. It always flooded but it has gotten worst.
