St. Paul Highland Park named Minnesota Premier FFA Chapter

For the first time an urban chapter has been named the Premier FFA Chapter in Minnesota.

Highland Park Senior High ag teacher and FFA advisor Harley Brown says the St. Paul school launched its FFA chapter ten years ago and has grown into one of the top chapters in the state.

“It’s really exciting for us to get recognition because oftentimes people say ‘I didn’t realize there is FFA in the city. And so it’s cool to say ‘yes there is FFA, and also we’re successful, we’re good at it. You don’t have to be from a rural area in order to excel in the FFA.”

Highland Park chapter president Trump Vang tells Brownfield his FFA experience has been very rewarding.

“When I first joined as a 9th grader I was so confused in what I was going to do in my life, but FFA has helped me discover my own future and has created that pathway for me to take off.”

The National Premier Chapter Award program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization.
