Stallman proclaims ‘new attitude’ in facing opponents

The head of the country’s largest general farm organization took aim Sunday at those who disparage food producers.

American Farm Bureau President Bob Stallman says it’s time for an aggressive response to extremist negative views of agriculture. In his annual address to members, Stallman talked about the frequent attacks on traditional food production practices.

“The time has come to face our opponents with a new attitude,” Stallman said Sunday, “the days of their elitist power grabs are over.”

Citing Ohio’s successful passage of Issue 2 to fight what he calls the enemies of modern animal agriculture, Stallman’s message to those who expect to roll over America’s farm and ranch families is that the circumstances have changed.

“Can we stand up and fight for a better future for this great country?” asked Stallman. “I say, yes, we can.”

Stallman also indicated in his address that the Farm Bureau is making a vigorous push against Climate Change legislation.
