Strong winds limit spraying opportunities

A farmer in south-central Iowa says it’s been a challenge to get post-emergence herbicides applied.

Steve Kuiper of Knoxville says the wind has been problematic.

“It was blowing so hard that you couldn’t spray. My son did some Monday before the wind started picking back up again. Most of our soybeans that need to be sprayed are fairly clean.”

He tells Brownfield weed escapes have been minimal.

“We had just maybe 50 acres of re-spray this year. As soon as it gets dry we’ll finish up spraying our soybeans.”

Kuiper says he plans to get started on fungicide applications in about two weeks.
