Stuckey named Swine Manager of the Year
At the Ohio Pork Congress on Wednesday, the Ohio Pork Council named Kevin Stuckey of Hicksville the 2014 Swine Manager of the Year.
A sow division manager for Cooper Farms, Kevin manages farms in both Defiance and Pauling counties. He says over the years his duties as a swine manager have changed.
“I don’t get in to the farms nearly as much as I used to on a day-to-day basis,” said Stuckey. “A lot more time is spent working with people, trying to coordinate the different activities that are going on on the farm, making sure we have the proper training in place for our people.”
Kevin joined Cooper Farms in 1998 as assistant manager of the company’s first sow unit.
“We’ve always said the pigs is the easy thing,” the Swine Manager of the Year said. “It’s working with the people or the challenges of the weather and diseases that we’ve been dealing with this winter that really makes it interesting.”
