Students experience Statehouse first-hand
Thirty-three students from around Indiana took part in the Indiana House of Representatives Page Office REMC Day. Indiana’s electric cooperatives teamed up with the Indiana House of Representatives page Office to host REMC day March 7th. Rick Coons, CEO for the Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives says, “Experiencing the process and the heart of state government brings to life many of the lessons students learn in the classroom. Seeing it firsthand takes it to the next level.”
The day also included a tour of the Governor’s office and Statehouse and an opportunity to meet their State Representatives. The 33 students selected came from electric cooperative service territories around the state.
The Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives, based in Indianapolis, represents 39 electric cooperatives that serve more than 850,000 Hoosiers in 89 of the state’s 92 counties. For more information on Indiana Statewide and its members, visit www.isa.coop.
