Swine industry unites behind national plan to improve herd health

The director of swine health for the National Pork Board says there is a lot of disease pressure pork producers are struggling with right now.

Speaking to Brownfield during the World Pork Expo in Des Moines last week, Dr. Marisa Rotolo said NPB has developed the National Swine Health Strategy, which is focused on advancing swine health for all producers.

“We have specific priorities and goals, but we’re really focused on reducing the impact of domestic diseases while keeping an eye on our foreign and emerging diseases.”

She calls it a coordinated approach unifying the industry to advance swine health and those goals and priorities.”
