Tennessee crops: 76% soybeans and 62% cotton rated good to excellent

Timely rains across Tennessee were greatly beneficial to the state’s row crops.

Seventy-six percent of soybeans are called good to excellent with 82 percent of the crop emerged and 8 percent blooming.  Cotton is rated 62 percent good to excellent with 29 percent of the crop squaring and 3 percent setting bolls.  Corn is rated 72 percent good to excellent with 17 percent silking. 

Wheat harvest is 88 percent complete. 

Sixty-four percent of pastures are rated good to excellent and the first cutting of hay is 94 percent complete.

Seventy-four percent of Topsoil and eighty percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
