Tennessee farmers gain on fieldwork with dry conditions

Winter wheat harvest and cotton planting is nearly finished in Tennessee.

USDA says winter wheat is now 78 percent harvest, ahead of last year and the five-year average.

Cotton is 99 percent planted, 40 percent squared, and 57 percent good to excellent. 

Corn is 97 percent has emerged, 34 percent silking, and condition is rated 69 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans are 90 percent planted, 78 percent emerged, 27 percent blooming, and 72 percent rated good to excellent.

Pastures are rated 66 percent good to excellent with 88 percent of the first cutting is finished. Tobacco transplanting is 84 percent complete.
