Tennessee pastures see some relief after weekend rains

Hurricane Helene has brought further complications to a difficult growing season in Tennessee.

Some parts of the region received up to 10 inches of rain over the weekend and localized flooding which is delaying harvests.

USDA says corn condition is rated 42 percent good to excellent with 96 percent mature and 70 percent harvested.

Cotton in the state has 85 percent of bolls opening with 10 percent has been harvested.  The crop is now rated 45 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans are 78 percent dropping leaves and 42 percent harvested with condition rated 42 percent good to excellent.

Tobacco plants are 80 percent cut while winter wheat is 10 percent planted.

Pastures improved to 20 percent good to excellent.
