Tennessee planting running behind

Tennessee farmers had another week of continued wet weather delaying fieldwork.

USDA says corn is 87 percent planted and 67 percent emerged while soybeans are 60 percent planted and 45 percent emerged.  Cotton is 68 percent planted and 2 percent squared.

Winter wheat is 98 percent headed, 81 percent coloring, and 14 percent mature with 80 percent rated good to excellent.

Pastures remain in good condition despite the rain and are rated 76% good to excellent. 

Topsoil and subsoil moisture are both 99 percent adequate to surplus in the state.
