The 2025 Indiana legislative session is officially underway
Indiana Farm Bureau President Randy Kron says several issues will be discussed during this year’s legislative session. The organization is supporting Senate Bill 28, which would protect ground water for farmers.
“Right now the way the law is written, it’s just whoever sucks it out the fastest gets it,” he says. “We’re looking at some protections around that. In our legislature, we don’t have any statute of laws that give guidance to that.”
He tells Brownfield members are talking to their legislators about property tax adjustments.
“We’ve gone up 20 plus percent over the last two years and our members would argue that nobody’s taxes should go up that much,” he says. “These conversations bring it back to the farm and back to their constituents.”
Kron encourages members to stay engaged and voice their concerns to keep these issues at the forefront of discussions.
