The endof the year for Alice in Dairyland

On Friday night, May 15th, Ashley Huibregtse will hand the title of Alice in Dairyland over to one of sixfinalists for the job. The finals are being hosted by Racine County this year with the finale at Burlington High School.

The year has gone quickly for Huibregtse who says her greatest accomplishment as the 61st Alice was trying to reach people allacross the state. “I traveled from rural areas to downtown Milwaukee,” speaking to fourth-graders and high school students and consumers of all ages, “And hopefully taught them a little bit along the way.”

As a full-time public relations specialist forthe Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Huibregtse visited numerous businesses around the state and she wishes she could have visited even more. “I think as an Alice in Dairyland alumni I will keep learning and touring.”

While she does not have a job lined up right now, she is hoping to stay in agriculture at least for a while. “I majored in elementary education so I do want to get into the classroom someday, but right now I’m really excited about the ag industry and hope to continue incommunications.”

Her advice to the next Alice ? “Make the most of every experience because you are lucky to be Alice in Dairyland .”
