The push for year-round, nationwide E15 continues in D.C.

A U.S. Congressman says passing year-round, nationwide E15 remains a priority for many Midwestern lawmakers.

Mike Flood of Nebraska tells Brownfield the skinny farm bill is an option. “We want it in there.”

He says one of the biggest challenges has been finding a legislative avenue. “There is some talk about attaching it to the NDAA, which is must pass (legislation) as the National Defense Authorization Act, versus the farm bill. Any vehicle that is going to get voted on in both chambers would be great.”

Flood says he remains optimistic. “It needs to start in a Senate bill and then come over here, and if we did that, I think there is enough support to keep it in there.”

He says Congress needs to avoid a repeat of last year when the legislation was dropped in December. Flood says all options are on the table but doesn’t Congress to address it until it figures out how fund the government and avoid a shutdown.
