An AgriGold agronomist says getting a jump-start on planning for next growing season will set up farmers for success.

Jacob Gehrls says soil testing can make a big difference.

“Soil fertility is probably the biggest yield impact that we have, understanding exactly what each field needs to bring it to that top end yield potential is of major importance for our growers,” he says.

He tells Brownfield farmers can use the winter months to prepare for the upcoming growing season.

“Other things that growers can do is work on tillage, even taking a good look at what happened this year, finding those spots in their fields that are potential pinch points, where yields are maybe a little bit lower,” he says. “Understanding what is happening in those spots. Just so we can make some corrections going into next year.”

Gehrls encourages growers to reach out to their local agronomist to put together an action plan to get the most out of their field next season.
