The WOTUS battle is far from over
Cattle producers are continuing to fight against burdensome regulations.
National Cattlemen’s Beef Association vice president, Buck Wehrbein, a cattle feeder from Nebraska says the Waters of the US rule is one of those rules that never seems to go away.
He tells Brownfield after the Sackett ruling, the organization anticipated the Biden administration to rescind its WOTUS rule. “It would seem a reasonable group would back off and rescind it,” he says. “But they won’t. They doubled down and now we have to be engaged more in the legal process.”
So what does a reasonable WOTUS rule look like? Wehrbein says they want a better definition of navigable waters. “One that’s real, not just every single small body of water that shows up every once in a while.”
