Timely rain keeps SE Minnesota crops on track

A farmer in southeast Minnesota calls crops in her area “phenomenal.”

“It’s almost like knock on wood, we don’t even want to talk about it they look so good.”

She tells Brownfield rains have been timely.

“We’ve gotten rains at just the right times. It was getting a little bit dry there, and then the rains came. So hopefully we’ll continue to get those rains and go right into harvest.”

USDA’s latest weekly crop update rates 71 percent of corn and 72 percent of soybeans statewide in good to excellent condition.

Crop development remains ahead of normal with 16 percent of corn dented and 84 percent of soybeans setting pods.
