Too early to know scope and impact of federal firings
U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley suggests it’s too soon to know how farmers might be impacted by firings at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The Iowa Republican tells Brownfield it’s not clear how many federal workers are affected.
“But if services aren’t going to be delivered the way they should be and the way they have been, then I expect those positions to be filled.”
He says some federal employees could take a buyout during the administration’s 90-day review period.
“That’s different than people that are just fired. And all I can say is Congress is going to have a responsibility in our congressional oversight to review whether services are being cut too much as a result of it.”
USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and National Animal Health Laboratory Network were among the federal offices impacted by the layoffs.
Sure Chuck. Services should be better than ever. Less workers, lower moral (of course in the office now) and a smaller budget. Sounds like a great recipe for success, but of course it’s “too early to tell.” The 100 year old Senator afraid to speak up to King Donny and Austic Elmo for what? The only one going to primary Chuckie at this point is The Grim Reaper.
