Top-end yield loss possible after August storms in parts of Nebraska
A south-central Nebraska farmer says crop conditions are mixed.
Morgan Wrich of Nelson says corn is in good shape despite on-going moisture issues. “Things are still pretty wet out there. We’re waiting for the corn to dry down. We’re sitting around 35-ish moisture level. We won’t start harvest for another week and-a-half or so and then start with wet corn.”
The USDA says 3 percent has been harvested and 73 percent is rated good-to-excellent.
She tells Brownfield there could be some top end yield loss to do extreme wind in August. “We got hit pretty hard from a couple of storms. There is some crops out there that are leaning hard and that have wind damage.”
The USDA says 24 percent of soybeans are dropping leaves, and 78 percent are rated good-to-excellent.
