The administration remains committed to expanding market access for U.S. farmers and ranchers around the globe.

Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins tells Brownfield recently announced trade frameworks will benefit American agriculture.

“Whether it’s Japan, whether it’s Korea, whether it’s the Philippines, whether it’s Cambodia, it’s just one win after another and the country that’s winning is America,” she says. “We’ll see a lot more in the coming weeks.”

She says President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs went into effect on Friday and she hopes this create additional opportunities for trade agreements.

“There are some countries where hopefully it helps get them to the negotiating table like China and India and a few others,” she says. “These will help get more of our crops sold and then there are some where it’s had a huge positive impact in opening up the market.”

The next tariff deadline is August 12th for China, one of the top buyers of U.S. ag goods.

Rollins says the administration’s tariff policy is an effort to improve the trade deficit.
