Turkey hatchery numbers ahead of year ago pace

The USDA’s turkey hatchery numbers are pointing towards a rise in supply and higher production.

On March 1st, 2026, there were 24.4 million turkey eggs in incubators, 1% above the March 1st, 2025, total.

20.413 million poults were hatched during February of this year, and 18.521 million were placed into meat production, both 3% more than last year.

The USDA expects 2026 turkey production, prices, and demand to top 2025, with the updated annual projection out April 9th.
