Two Central Wisconsin co-ops talk merger

The boards of Harmony Country Cooperative based in Colby and Central Wisconsin Cooperative based in Stratford have approved a plan of action.

As part of the proposal, CWC will sell its John Deere dealership in Stratford to Riesterer & Schnell which owns a dozen Deere dealerships across the state.

CWC Board Chair Joe Fuchs tells Wisconsin Ag Connection no staff reductions are planned at either co-op.

Members are invited to an information meeting on November 11th at the Knights of Columbus hall in Marshfield.  Voting on the merger will be by mail in November.  If approved, the deal would take effect in March.

Besides the John Deere dealership, CWC has agronomy centers in Stratford and Auburndale; feed mills in Stratford and Chili and a feed store in Marshfield; grain storage, energy facilities, c-store, tire center, lawn & garden center and lawn care operations in Stratford.

Harmony Country Cooperative has an agronomy center in Unity; feed mills in Colby and Arpin; energy services in Colby and c-stores in Colby and Pittsville.
