U.S., China have agreed on enforcement mechanism for any trade deal

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says the U.S. and China have found a way to enforce agreements made in a trade deal.

In an interview with CNBC Wednesday, Mnuchin said officials have agreed on an enforcement mechanism and both countries will establish enforcement offices.

Enforceability over intellectual property and other non-tariff barriers has remained a sticking point during trade talks.

Mnuchin says trade officials are hopeful a deal can be reached soon but they are not going to set a deadline.
