USDA’s Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agriculture Affairs says new trade strategies are helping expand market access for America’s farmers and ranchers.

Luke Lindbergsays increasing ag exports is critical. “We need to translate that market into real dollars that make it back into farmers’ pocket.”

He tells Brownfield the work that USDA has done has helped regain market share. “All of that has been a contributing component to us reducing the agriculture trade deficit by 42 percent.”

He says USDA’s 3-point plan included several rapid response trade missions over the last year. “We’re getting groups into these markets quickly after these agreements are signed to make sure these agreements are implemented and that buyer/seller relationships are built and fostered.”

Lindberg says the plan has also streamlined financing for customers purchasing U.S. ag products and has provided additional funds for several groups that focus boosting global demand.
