U.S. wheat exports gaining momentum, farmer director says

A farmer director with U.S. Wheat Associates says he’s optimistic that strong export sales will continue.
Kansas producer Gary Millershaski tells Brownfield wheat is competitively priced on the global market. “Which is great for exporting but really stinks if you’re a producer trying to sell it. However, the only way we get rid of supply is by selling it. I’m not promoting selling promoting cheap wheat, but I am promoting selling quality wheat.”
He says Mexico continues to be the top customer. “We’ve been exporting way above and beyond what we have in the past few years. I’ve also been to Singapore, South Korea and Indonesia and we have lots of new contracts and memorandums of understanding.”
Millershaski (Miller-shash-ski) says those agreements typically last two to five years. He says Bangladeshi has also increased it purchases of U.S. wheat. Recent data from USDA shows that weekly export inspections were more than the prior week and a year ago.
