Understanding Indiana’s Home-Based Vendor Law
Indiana’s Home-Based Vendor Law (HB1149) that went into effect earlier this year included changes that impact those operating as a home-based vendor.
A home-based vendor can prepare and sell only food products that are made, grown, or raised by an individual at the individual’s primary residence. It also can’t be a potentially hazardous food product, it must be prepared using proper sanitary procedures, and it can not be resold.
There are two major changes under the law, which include how and where products can be sold and the addition of requirements for food handler training.
Jeff Cummins, associate director of policy engagement with Indiana Farm Bureau recently sat down with Brownfield’s Amie Simpson to go over the laws that went into effect July 1, 2022.
