University of Missouri introduces aid payment calculator

The director of the University of Missouri Rural and Farm Policy Analysis Center says a new, free tool can help farmers estimate soon to arrive federal aid payments.

Alejandro Plastina says the downloadable calculator allows producers to figure payments included in the American Relief Act of 2025.

“Enter in this very simple spreadsheet the number of planted acres in each commodity, and the number of prevented planted acres in each commodity,” he says, “and that spreadsheet will tell the user how much they can expect in payments from all crops.”

He tells Brownfield knowing the amount of aid they’ll receive can help farmers better estimate 2025 cash flows.

“These economic assistance payments can really help with cash flow in the 2025 crops, but still costs are high and in some cases many farmers will incur losses in 2025,” he says.

Plastina says the law requires the payments to be distributed by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency by the end of March.
