Unusual but good spring for northern Minnesota farmer
A farmer in northwest Minnesota is pleased with crop development.
Shayne Isane of Badger says it was an unusual spring.
“Got in early, got some rain. Had about a ten-day delay, got back in. Had about a 10-day window to get in and we did manage to do that before we got like an inch of rain, and some smaller rains after that.”
He tells Brownfield the area received another half inch last weekend.
“Which kind of helped to replenish things. And we’ve got fairly decent subsoil (moisture), but we’re going to definitely need some more timely rains throughout the whole summer to keep this crop rolling.”
Isane grows corn, soybeans, small grains, canola, and alfalfa about 20 miles from the Canada border.
