Upper Midwest cool stretch possible
A climatologist says there’s a chance for a cool down later this month in parts of the Upper Midwest.
Eric Hunt with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln says, “This isn’t necessarily a really, really deep cold signal, but if this were to verify we would bring in some much cooler temperatures somewhere between the 22nd or 23rd of the month.”
He says it could create a frost or freeze situation. “If we do end up getting a lot of upper air convergence and strong high pressure forming at the surface in southern Canada and sliding into the Midwest, I think we will have to watch out for the potential for a frost in the northern portion of the corn belt.”
But Hunt says it would take a lot of factors for that to occur and outlooks could change at any time.
