Urban Ag Conservation Grants Initiative
Two million dollars in grants have been awarded to 42 conservation districts across 25 states.
The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), in partnership with NRCS, says it has established the Urban Ag Conservation Grants Initiative to broaden its base of support for conservation across the country.
The money is intended to help conservation districts and their partners provide technical assistance for agricultural conservation where the land is predominantly urban or urbanizing.
The NACD says urban farmers, community gardens and other local ag partnerships stand to benefit from this initiative.
Conservation districts in Brownfield states that have been awarded grants include:
-Ramsey (MN)
-Hamilton and Marion Soil and Water (IN)
-Kent (MI)
-Boone and Greene Soil and Water (MO)
-Cuyahoga, Lucas and Muskingum Soil and Water (OH)
