USDA adjusts corn, soybean planted area numbers

Farmers did make some changes to their corn and soybean intentions during the 2026 planting season.

The USDA now has soybean planted area at 85.365 million acres, up 665,000 from the March prospective plantings report and 5% higher than 2025.

Corn came out at 95.343 million acres, 5,000 more than the last guess and 3% smaller than a year ago.

The corn number topped pre-report expectations, while soybeans were very close to what analysts had been anticipating.

Ahead of the report, farmers surveyed said they still had 1.9 million acres of corn and 8.05 million acres of beans left to plant, and these overall numbers will likely change further in the coming months.

The total U.S. acreage mix is currently estimated at 309.639 million acres, 312,000 less than the prior projection.

The USDA’s updated supply, demand, and production numbers are out July 10^th.
