USDA announces funding for Indiana specialty crop growers
The USDA has awarded over $513,000 to Indiana’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.
Purdue Extension’s Scott Monroe says funding will go to three ISDA projects, benefiting Indiana farmers.
“What we’re hoping is that by documenting the process and using the Purdue Student Farm up on main campus as a test case, that we’re going to be able to help farmers navigate that process, especially those smaller farmers who have never really had to worry about this or go through this process,” he says.
This funding is part of a $72.9 million grant awarded to 54 states through the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program to strengthen U.S. specialty crop production.
