USDA opens funding for underserved & veteran farmer programs

The USDA is now accepting grant applications to support underserved and veteran farmers and ranchers.

More than $22 million in funding is available through the 2501 Program to provide producer training and technical assistance and to improve connections to USDA programs and services.

Grants in the Midwest last year included Michigan Food and Farming Systems programming, the Good Acre nonprofit food hub in Minnesota, and Cultivate Kansas City farm training and business incubator efforts.

Applications will be accepted through July 5th.

The 2501 Program has funded nearly $200 million in projects since 2010.
