USDA outlines trade priorities for 2024

USDA’s Under Secretary for Trade says rebuilding agriculture’s confidence in global trade will be a top priority in 2024.

Alexis Taylor says in her first year on the job she’s focused on helping the specialty crop sector overcome trade barriers and she wants to see that continue.

“We have a Federal Register notice that’s open right now where we’re taking comments. We want to identify the gaps on the administrative side that we control at USDA and to better serve our specialty crop sector, we’ll be doing a series of roundtables, virtually and in person.”

Taylor says the USDA will continue exploring ways to diversify all markets for U.S. agricultural products to compliment the Regional Agricultural Promotion Program.

Next year’s USDA trade missions include Korea, India, Canada, Colombia, Vietnam and Morocco. Taylor was a speaker at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting’s annual convention.
