USDA partners with Food Waste Reduction group

The USDA along with the EPA and FDA have joined a new partnership to reduce food waste.

The Food Waste Reduction Alliance was started by the grocery and restaurant industries.

More than one-third of all available food in the U.S. goes uneaten through loss or waste with food being the largest type of waste in daily trash.

The goals of the alliance are to reduce the amount of food waste generated, increasing the amount of safe and nutritious food that’s donated to people in need and diverting waste from landfills.
